Squat Away May

Ladies…

My booty needs your help. It is sad, and it spends its days eating, chasing a toddler, and then sleeping. It needs some friends to encourage it to get off the couch and drop it like a squat. It used to be such a perky, happy booty. My front side is starting to grow, and if I don’t start working on my backside I’m gonna be a hot mess in a few months. Don’t let me turn into pregnant Kim K…friends don’t let friends look like pregnant Kim K.

Here’s my challenge to you:

Let’s start this today, and before swimsuit season is in full swing, our booties will be on their way to looking happy. Are you in? I’m going to hold you accountable, and vice-versa.

50 squats today. DO IT!

Friday Lust List & Link-Up

Lust List Image 1.|| Rebecca over at Living Better Together made these amazing looking Dark Chocolate Cupcakes with Raspberry Vanilla Cream and I haven’t stopped dreaming about them ever since I saw her post.

2.|| Have you checked out the new Ikea PS2014 collection? It’s modern, pastel, heaven.

3.|| This beautiful succulent heart living planter would make such a great Mother’s Day gift.

4.|| I spied this floral maxi at Anthropologie last week with my sister, and it’s so beautiful in person. If the waist was stretchy and could accomodate my growing bump, it would have come home with me.

5.|| This just makes me laugh! But so does this….

HAHA!! Seriously though, excuse me while I go throw up and then take a nap. ;-)
6.|| I want to live in these rose gold Valia Gabriel sandals all summer.

7.|| Camryn has asked for a “GREEN” birthday party this year (favorite color), so I’ve decided a green garden party would be fun. My sister-in-law is due with my nephew around the time of Camryn’s party and hopefully we’ll all be jetsetting to Colorado to see his sweet little face, so I’m planning something small for just her and a few of her friends instead of our usual family filled parties. I came across this moss table runner while sourcing garden party decor, and I’m smitten. More party decor and DIY’s coming your way in the next few months.

8.|| I’m currently wearing Essie’s Ladylike on my nails (after have to fix my horrible mani/pedi from last week) and I’m falling in love with this color all over again.

9.|| This mother-daughter prank is too funny!

10.|| My husband is finally home after a very long couple of weeks, and isn’t leaving anytime soon. I’m a very happy wife! Also, it’s Friday, and that’s just fantastic.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I’m linking up with Amanda from Meet @ The Barre, so go check out her post and all the other babes linking up with their friday favorites.

Wishing you all a wonderful Easter weekend!

DIY Curtain Trim

Welcome back!

First off, THANK YOU all for the incredibly kind comments, messages, texts, and calls about our pregnancy news. My heart nearly exploded. I’m so happy to have such a supportive, kind, and kickass group of followers. I say it all the time, but you’ve made my little corner of the internet such a joyful place for me. I’m looking forward to sharing my pregnancy journey with all of you. Right now, I’m bloated, tired, and craving caffeine. I could be used as a floatation device, and my husband and I are becoming more and more afraid of what two children will be like. HA! Get ready for more posts that sounds like that. If you’re a parent on 2+, please leave me regular comments reminding me that I’m not going to be outnumbered, and that two tiny terrorists are not going to deprive me of sleep and ask the words “why?” forever. Those are short term problems, right?

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty good. My husband came home after an entire week away and I was beyond exhausted and thrilled to have him watch Camryn while I napped. :-) It was my sisters birthday on Saturday and we spent some time lounging by her pool and enjoying the “Camryn Show”, aka my toddler running around in her bikini being oh-so-silly. Pictures of that are on my Instagram. Pre-warning: 2 year old in a bikini might be more cuteness than you can handle. You’ve been warned. On sunday I went to get a last minute mani/pedi with my sister and none of our usual places were open, so we tried a new place called Crystal’s (off N. Lamar if you’re in Austin). DO NOT GO THERE!! It was the worst mani/pedi I have EVER had. :-( My nail polish, 8 hours later, is still mushy and peeling off my nails. How is that even possible? I swear they added acetone to the polish too many times or something. I’ve never had to remove my polish and re-paint both hands and feet the same day as having them professionally done. Such a bummer.

In other news, I’ve finished my DIY drapes, and they look fabulous if you ask me.

DIYdrapes.jpg

drapescloseup.jpg Pretty great for a $35 PAIR of 118″ curtains from Ikea, $3 worth of ribbon, and $4 worth of fabric glue. If you want to recreate this look, lay out your drapes and glue your ribbon down 1″ from the edge. All it to dry overnight, and Viola! I used large coffee table books to hold my fabric flat and wrinkle free. Even my husband was impressed with this cheap DIY and what an impact it made. The drapes looks beautiful and expensive and at 118″, they add so much height to our hallway.

If you noticed my fun “Everyday I’m Hustlin’” phone cover, it’s from Mulberry Press Co. I get stopped in the street and asked by strangers about that awesome case.

In addition to finishing my curtains, I also found a drawer pull for my hallway console. Of course it’s from Anthropologie…that place is like crack. The word “no” is non-existent in there.

This knob looks so much better in person. It’s absolutely drawer pull perfection. Once I install it I’ll post a picture for you all.

Until then, have a happy Monday.

Maxi Dress Obsessed

Hello!

Now that spring has sprung, and the temperatures are beginning to rise, I’m in maxi-dress-love. They are perfect paired with a jean jacket, sweater, scarf, heels, or flats. They’re almost fool-proof, and a staple in my wardrobe. Here are a few of the dresses I’ve recently snagged, or am lusting over.

Rachel Pally Anya Maxi

I bought this for our family photos in May, and I’m literally in love with it. It’s so well fitted, and flows beautifully, and I know I’ll get tons of use out of this neutral dress all spring, summer, and fall. I can’t wait to pair it with a jean jacket and sandals.

MinkPink Watercolor Tiles Maxi

I’m loving the vibrant colors and cut of this dress. The delicate pleating around the waist creates a flowing movement, and the flared hem creates a more hourglass look to your figure.

H&M Black & White Maxi (Only 29.95) - This would look amazing with a brown bow belt and brown gladiators.

F21 Femme Flounce Floral Maxi - Under $25 – This dress should be illegal it’s so beautiful & cheap!

F21 Hollywood Regent Maxi

F21 Rose Cutout Maxi (also available in black floral) – The back of this dress is gorgeous!! Under $23…DUH I’m buying it.

F21 Caged Cami Maxi

I love the sheer skirt, and the leg slits. Perfect dress to show off a cute pair of sandals and tanned legs. Here’s a less expensive alternative to my Rachel Pally dress above.

I’m also obsessing over maxi skirts, but we’ll have to cover those another day. ;-)

Napa Valley Vacation (in pictures)

Hello Loves!

I was away all week enjoying a slower paced life in Napa Valley with my husband, daughter, and mother-in-law. It was bliss!

artathess

We started our napa trip at a few of the wineries, of course. The Hess Vineyard is one of my favorites because it houses an amazing modern art museum. I visited it last year with my sister and had to take my husband and MIL back.

bouchon

No trip to Napa is complete without a little Bouchon Bakery. I could literally live in that place and get fat. It’s heaven.

greenjuice

We stopped at the Oxbow Market in downtown Napa and had some green juice. I was feeling very tired and run down and needed my greens.

It was a great little getaway. :-)

As soon as I got home I stopped at Starbucks and noticed their new La Boulange menu is out. Have you guys tried the chocolate croissant yet? DO IT!!

laboulange Coffee and pastries are my dream team when it comes to unpacking.

Hope you all had a great week as well! Lots more posts coming your way this week, so I hope you’ll stick around. I have a giveaway that includes a $200+ cash prize, as well as a big surprise coming your way soon. Hopefully within the next 2 weeks.

It feels good to be back and chatting with you all again. You make my little corner of the internet such a happy place to come home to!!

Friday Favorites

Well friends, I wasn’t the awesome blogger like I had intended on being this week. :-( I got carried away with wallpapering Camryn’s room, and putting together my hallway “nook” that I talked about earlier this week.

wallpaper

Finally got around to hanging Camryn’s wallpaper, which turned out to be MUCH easier than I was expecting. Anyone with patience can hang this stuff, and it only took my about 4 hours to cover an entire wall (2 rolls of paper) all by myself.

biggirlbedroomprogress

Here’s a little progress picture…Pillows, nightstands, lamps, ceiling fixture, window cushion, drapes, and art are all still on my to-do list. I’m so over this room.

hallwaynook

Another little progress pic. Here’s how my console and benches look together. What do you think of my leftover wallpaper art? I’m on the hunt for a brass knob for the drawer, and I’m doing a little curtain DIY today. I’ll share that next week. :-)

moviedate And here’s why I didn’t blog yesterday. I took these cuties to a 7:40pm movie. Camryn was due for a special treat (for doing her chores, successful pottying, etc) so we made it a date night and went to see Frozen…which by the way we already own and have seen a million and one times. She sang “Do you wanna build a snowman…” at the top of her lungs for everyone in the theatre and my husband and I nearly peed from laughing so hard.

So there you have it, all my excuses for being a slacker. In more eventful news, here’s what I’ve been loving all week!

Lust List Image 1.|| Annie’s sent me a free coupon to try their new frozen meals, which can be found in the freezer section of Target. I buy Annie’s products all the time for Camryn, and love that they’re organic and use high quality ingredients. I chose the lasagna, but there are a few great options – like butternut squash macaroni, or chicken & shells with white cheese. Dinner at my house is always a bit chaotic, and having a quick and easy meal was a lifesaver for me last week. Camryn loved it! My husband and I really liked it too, and the price and convenience makes it a total no-brainer. Here’s a link to a $2 off coupon if you want to give it a try too.

hannahmaggs

2.|| I shared a few of my favorite YouTubers a few months ago, but have recently started watching Hannah Maggs channel and I’m obsessed. She recently had a baby, and he’s the cutest thing ever. I love her honesty about being a mom, and just watching her learn all the things I remember learning when Camryn was born. She’s also beautiful, and does makeup tutorials.

3.|| Jana Bek, one of my favorite designers, has started selling her hand painted lamps. How amazing is this lamp?! You can get your hands on one by e-mailing her.

4.|| I’m loving this maxi dress from Nordstrom. BONUS, it’s on sale!

5.|| Ryan Gosling anyone?! Just press the link…do it…you know you want to. Who am I kidding, nobodies even reading this anymore. You skipped out when you saw the words RYAN GOSLING! No apology necessary, I totally understand. ;-)

6.|| A magician tricks dogs, and it’s hilarious!

7.|| My new white console arrived this week and I was a little worried that it wouldn’t be good quality because of the crazy low price, but to my surprise it’s great! $107 console for the win! I love that it doesn’t have a drawer pull because I can customize it and make it look so much more expensive than it actually is. I’m loving these pulls in brass…the hard part is picking just one!

8.|| 53 thoughts everygirl, including myself, has while shopping at Target….aka The Holy Land.

9.|| Kirsten from 6th Street Design School recently took a quick trip to Paris with her husband and blogged all about it. Her pictures literally make my heart sad, I miss Paris that much. If you’ve never been be sure to check out her post on seeing Paris in 1 day.

10.|| There’s nothing better than women empowering and supporting other women, and this is a great read all about that.

I hope you all have a great weekend, and stay tuned for a big giveaway coming your way very soon!

No Bake Protein Bites

proteinbites

Hello, and happy Tuesday! I have a quick and easy, no bake, chocolate peanut butter protein bite recipe for you today. Let me just start by warning you…If you lack self control, don’t make these. They taste AH-MAZING, and you’re going to be tempted to eat them all. My husband and daughter are obsessed. You’ve been warned.

These delectable little balls (in the famous words of Michael Scott “That’s what she said!” ;-) ) pack a mean punch. They are loaded with chunky peanut butter, protein powder, honey, chocolate chips, and either raw oats or rice krispies. They taste like cookie dough, but provide a healthy dose of good-for-you-fats and protein. If you use local honey it’s also good for fighting allergies – Bonus! I have a major sweet tooth, and these babies do the trick every time. Since they’re packed full of protein they fill me up and keep me from rummaging through the fridge an hour later.

protein bites ingredients Ingredients:

1/2 Cup Chunky Peanut Butter (or nut butter of your choice)

1/3 Cup Honey

1 Cup Raw Oats or 1 Cup Rice Krispies (I made both, and the rice krispies are bomb-dot-com!)

1/3 Cup Mini Chocolate Chips

1/2 Cup Vanilla Protein Powder

Optional: Coconut (tastes best with the raw oats)

mix ingredients

In a bowl, combine all the ingredients until well mixed. Use your hands to form 1″ balls. Place in tupperware and cool in the fridge for 30+ minutes, and then enjoy!

If any of you make these tweet me or Instagram me a picture!

Hallway Nook / Foyer

Screen Shot 2014-03-23 at 10.32.46 PM

Good Morning! How was everyone’s weekend?

Last week felt very hectic, and I’m so sorry to have left you all hanging. I feel much less chaotic after a nice relaxing weekend, and I’ve got some good stuff for you this week.

Today I’m bringing you yet another design board. My husband and I have always used our back door (coming in from the garage) as our main entrance. It’s a long hallway that passes the laundry room, bathroom, office, and then finally spits you out into our main living space (kitchen, dining, living room). We don’t have any designated space for setting down keys, mail, etc. so they all end up on the kitchen counters, dining room table and it creates a mess. I despise clutter. I also hate that we have such a bare “entry way” that doesn’t reflect the rest of our home.

In an attempt to create a more organized space, I designed this “nook”. A console table, two x-benches, a place to set our keys and mail, and an area that rises to meet us when we come home. That’s what your home is supposed to do, right? Be functional, and also beautiful.

Our walls are a light cream color, so I wanted whites and vibrant colors to brighten the space. There’s a large window, so curtains are a must. Layered art and books are throughout our home so I had to add some here as well. (In all honesty, I just have an addiction to art, pillows, and coffee table books….) :-)

I purchased the benches from target, which were also featured in this post. The console is from Overstock, but hasn’t arrived yet. I’ll let you know if it’s of good quality and provide links after it arrives.

I’m DIY’ing some art using scraps of Camryn’s new wallpaper, and using art that I already own. You can check my Instagram for pictures! I’m also using trays, bowls, and accessories that I already own. Do all of you “shop your home” for decor? I’m constantly stealing bits and bobs from different rooms of my house and rotating accessories. It keeps things constantly changing, and evolving. (I might also have closets full of decor, because like I said before, I have an addiction)

What do you think of my work-in-progress space? Leave me any ideas or suggestions you have in the comments! I love hearing your opinions and advice!

I’ll continue updating with progress pictures, and links to all the products (if they’re good).

XO – Samantha
