Friday Lust List: Handmade Kids Clothing & Accessories

Hello Loves!

So many of you ask me where I buy Camryn’s clothes, shoes, and accessories, and many times the answer is Target/Old Navy/H&M, etc…but some of my favorite items from her wardrobe are the ones I find from little shops on etsy, or discover through Instagram, or word of mouth. They’re handmade, many times using organic materials, and made with love. They are the pieces that last longer than any of the clothes from the “big box retailers”, they’re very high quality, and they’re the items that I plan to pass down to my future child(ren). I wanted to share a few of my recent favorite shops with all of you. Even if you don’t have a mini me, I’m sure you have friends and family with them, so check out these awesome shops – support small businesses – and shop my favorite items!

1.|| You saw Camryn rocking her Mason & The Tambourine dress a few days ago, as well as the grey teepee leggings. This shop is one of my newest loves, and I ~~am definitely going to~~ might want to buy one of everything. (My husband reads my blog, so I can’t give away too much… Hi honey! No shopping happening here.)

2.|| zuzii.com was recently introduced to me, and I can’t stop swooning over these black & white striped sandals. Why can’t these be in my size too? Oh, and I can’t forget this bow belt, it’s too cute for words. Must. Own.

3.|| Hello Apparel is always on my radar, but I’m especially eyeing those darling heart baseball tees for Valentines.

4.|| Loola popped up on my radar recently, and I fell in love with these floral harem pants (no longer available in size 2T…wahhhhh!). The prices can’t be beat ($15 for those adorable pants)! These pants would have looked so chic with those striped sandals from Zuzii.

I’m also loving these quilted tuxedo stripe pants from Loola.

5.|| House of Mia has become dangerous for me to even look at these days. These heart leggings, the little black umbrella leggings, and the tiny models in them…I want it all. 100% organic, and 100% CUTE!

6.|| Monroe & Harlow is a company I started stalking on Instagram, and now check in on daily to see what cute new designs they’ve dreamed up. My current favorite is this beautiful black & white striped band with a mint bow. Lucky you, they also carry a women’s line – check out these gorgeous turbans – I would rock one of these all the time!!

7.|| I recently made a few purchases with Grey Thread, an etsy company with quirky sayings on shirts and sweatshirts that are sure to catch attention. My favorites are “Embrace Messy Hair”, “Wild & Free”, and the funny “Jesus Saves, Bro” shirt.

8.|| Vonbon is releasing their new leggings line in early February, and I sneaked a peek and am smitten! These will quickly sell out, so mark your calendars. If you want to read more about my love affair with Vonbon, check out my full post here.

9.|| Sugarplum Lane is another shop I’ve been frequenting, and I’m currently lusting over these beauties. I’m a sucker for all things gold, but it’s the thickness and quality of sugarplum’s leggings that I love most.

10.|| No list about toddler fashion could ever be complete without mentioning Freshly Picked Moccs. You all know I love them, and my kid practically lives in them, but did you know they’ve released a radiant orchid pair in honor of the Pantone Color of the Year?! Oh yes Mamas, feast your eyes on those beauties!!! If you’re a lover of Freshly Picked like I am, check out Shark Tank tonight, and see if Susan cuts a deal with any of the sharks!

Let’s be honest, it’s hard not to love everything in teeny tiny size! Let the shopping commence. (I can say that now because there’s no way my husband’s still reading…he got lost somewhere between shoes and headbands.)

I’m Back!

It feels like forever since I’ve sat in front of my computer {eating chocolate chip & oatmeal raisin cookies…} and blogged. Ahhhh it’s good to be home!

First off, my trip was great! I got to see a bunch of friends and their littles, and I rubbed a TON of baby bumps. ALL of my girlfriends (yes, I’m being a tad dramatic) are pregnant! 5 baby bumps in total…which is actually a good thing, because that’s 5 sweet little babies that I’ll be snuggling in just a few more months. My ovaries have officially exploded, and all I say to my husband anymore is “I NEED A BABY!!!”

My SIL’s baby shower was so fun, and they revealed they are having a boy! A BOY, people. I finally get to shop for, and dress up a little man. They had been hoping for a boy, so I’m super happy for them. Camryn is going to be so excited to have a cousin. She was already talking to my SIL’s belly and giving it kisses. She kept asking her to “take the baby out”, and we were having to tell her he wasn’t ready yet.

We didn’t get home to Austin until after 1am, so Camryn and I slept in till 10, and then spent the day relaxing and enjoying the beautiful 80 degree Austin weather. What a nice change from the grey and cold weather we had in Washington!

Thank you all for being patient while I was away. I had planned on blogging and posting vacay pics all week, but travelling solo with a toddler requires a lot of stuff, and my laptop wasn’t going to fit in my carry-on. I had to rely on my FIL’s computer and my husbands macbook, and it just didn’t work out like I had planned.

Speaking of travelling with a toddler, I remembered to snap a pic of the things I pack in my carry-on bag for all of you who have been asking for tips. I’ll put together a post soon. After 4 countries and countless plane rides, I’ve come up with a system that works really well for us.

Those are all the products I love, and have been using for the last year+, and will continue using throughout the new year. I always love trying new products, and will undoubtedly discover new loves to share with all of you in 2014.

On a side note, I just want you all to know how amazing the past few months have been for me, and what an incredible impact this blog and all of you reading it have had on me. I’ve met some of the sweetest ladies, blogged on some pretty awesome blogs, and worked with companies that put out the coolest products. All of the comments, tweets, and interactions on facebook and instagram mean so very much to me, and I just love getting to know all of you. I started blogging to create a happy place where people with similar interests as me could get together, chat, and support each other, and I’m SO in awe of all of you who are making that dream come true for me. I’ve always been a little shy in large crowds, and never really put myself “out there”, so starting this blog was a big leap for me but I’m so glad I jumped! You guys are constantly building each other up, supporting one anothers goals, and just making this little corner of the internet a happier place. For all of you, I am grateful. 2014 is going to be a really, really good year.

Influenster: Jolly Vox Box

The nice people at Influenster sent me some complimentary goodies this week to test out and I thought I’d share my thoughts with all of you. You’re probably wondering what Influenster is, and why they’re sending me free stuff…Influenster creates a bridge between companies and bloggers (or youtubers, etc). If you’re a blogger, vlogger, or just have a large social network, then Influenster might be of interest to you.

What an awesome surprise this was! All of the products are full-sized, which is great because sometimes it’s hard to really test a product off a sample. Things like skincare especially need full-size or generous sized samples.

I busted open the skinny cow chocolates first, of course, and they are so yummy! They have peanut butter filling and taste a lot like a reese’s peanut butter cup. These are the perfect late night snack when your sugar cravings kick in.

I’ve been wearing the NYC eyeshadows the last few days and I’m really impressed. I knew I would like the NYC eyeshadows because I’ve tried other palettes of theirs before. I am really loving the neutral colors in this palette, called Long Beach Sands, because they are slightly shimmery, and easy to wear day-to-day. They are a little bit chalky in comparison to a higher end palette like Naked’s, but have good color payoff and are a bargain.

I’ve also been wearing the Rimmel Lip Lacquer, and no surprise, I love this product. Rimmel is easily my favorite drug store brand, and I frequently order products online from them that aren’t available here in the US. The “Wake-me-up” foundation and concealer are two of my favorite products from them. I was actually lucky enough to try this lip lacquer prior to them sending it to me because I snagged one on my trip to Paris. You guys know I watch beauty videos on Youtube, and I had heard all my favorite girls raving about this product, so I had to get my hands on it ASAP. I had purchased “Big Bang” which is a gorgeous red, and I was just sent “Aurora” which is a beautiful pinky mauve. These lip lacquers aren’t sticky, they stay glossy for a really long time, and leave behind a beautiful stain so you don’t have to reapply constantly. I would compare them to the YSL glossy stains.

The Puff tissues are a no-brainer. I buy them constantly to keep in my purse, and they always come in handy, especially with a 2 year old. If you’ve never used a Puffs tissue, you’ve been living on another planet.

The Mini Duckling tape is so fun, and Camryn and I have been using it to craft this week. I got a paint splatter effect that is bright and colorful. These would be great alternatives to washi-tape for crafting, and I’ll be using mine to tape gift cards into Christmas cards this year. Speaking of Christmas….is it seriously less than a week away?! AHHHHH!! I’m in full-on panic mode now, and shopping and wrapping gifts like a mad woman.

A Little Chit-Chat

Good Morning Everyone. I’m getting this post to you a little later than usual because I spent my evening getting in some much needed R&R. I always strive to bring you quality posts over quantity, and last nights quality wouldn’t have been very good. Today’s post is a very chit-chat kind of post, so go grab yourself a cup of coffee and get cozy. (I’m drinking an iced latte from my nespresso machine, and eating mini powdered donuts….New Years Resolution: No more donuts!!)

If you’re looking for a delicious muffin recipe, check out this one from My Simple Kitchen. These look so yummy, and just a tad naughty. Perfect with coffee, obviously. What doesn’t go well with coffee? Ok, maybe toothbrushing.Yuck.

My husband is moving offices, and has asked me to help make the new space a little less cave-like for him. The office is in the center of the building, in “pods”, and doesn’t get much natural light. His current office has 2 full glass walls facing towards the window and gets tons of light, so this is going to be quite the downgrade in those terms. The room lacks windows, so I need to find a lot of colorful art to hang on the walls and give life to the space. I’ll take pictures of the before for you guys this weekend when I go visit. Even though this will be a huge challenge, theres nothing that makes me more giddy than a clean slate needing decorating and an open wallet.

Did you ladies watch the VS fashion show on Tuesday night? I missed it (quietly sobs) but I’ve been watching a bunch of the backstage videos. I usually enjoy these more than the actual show anyways; I love seeing them get their makeup done, and all the shenanigans that happen behind the scenes.

I bought my daughter the ever-so-famous Elf on a Shelf yesterday. After about 30 minutes of researching, I decided that this little guy is:

1. A Bully (and kind of a nark)

2. High Maintenance. All of you moms out there creating these amazing setups, like elf bubble baths with barbie, or “snow ball fights” in the kitchen with flour, you all deserve to be on the naughty list. You’ve raised the bar TOO HIGH!! We’ve had him for 24 hours and I literally woke up this morning to my daughter saying “Mr. Elf, where are you?” over her baby monitor….and guess who forgot to move him last night? Yep, this shitty mom. Fail. I quickly hung him from the banister on my way upstairs to get Camryn, and when she found him I said he must have been “riding down the banisters last night”. I’m almost positive that will bite me in the ass when she’s big enough to climb onto the banisters. “But Mom, Mr. Elf got to do it!”

3. How is this naughty elf, who stays up all night making messes for me to clean, teaching my daughter to be good? Ahhhh I’m creating a monster!!

He’s a “must have”, as told by moms, so we’re going to give him a try. Camryn is already smitten with him, so I see the appeal. I read a hilarious post by another (lazy) mom like myself who didn’t move the elf and told her kids that he didn’t move because they must have been naughty and needed to try harder. Parenting…you’re doing it right.

I have a new balm that I’ve been using on my dry hands that I don’t think I could live without. The winter months always make my cuticles dry, and my hands get rough from constantly washing them, and this extreme cream by Zoe Organics is exactly what they needed. Speaking of pregnant….

Nope, not me. I wish. BUT my sweet sister-in-law is, and I just found out she’ll be having her baby shower in January back home in Washington. My husband and I both went to school in WA and moved to Austin about 8 years ago. It’s so fun getting to fly home and see friends, and all their babies, and let our kids play together. My sister doesn’t find out my niece/nephews gender until days before the party, but it will be even more exciting getting to see her and knowing who that the little person inside her belly is. I haven’t seen her since finding out the news, so I literally CANNOT WAIT!! Finally getting to be an Auntie is a close second to getting to be a Mom for me. I’m so curious to see what their baby will look like, because Camryn looked just like her Uncle as a baby.

Lust List: 12/6/13 & On The 4th Day of GIVEAWAY!

Well everyone, we survived the week, and now we get to enjoy a little R&R this weekend. Wahhooo! You know what I love most about Fridays? Knowing that I get to sleep in tomorrow morning because my husband will be home and will get up early with our daughter. I volunteer him for morning duties every Saturday. He’s a gem.

3.|| I was sent a sample of an exfoliator that has officially stolen my heart. It’s the Microdermabrasion Paste from Rodan + Fields. It smells of citrus, warms as it exfoliates, and leaves your skin feeling softer than a babies bum. You guys know I love my face masks, and I will gladly put this in my top 5. It reminds me of Kate Somerville’s Exfolikate, but not as stinky, or green. I’ve had the opportunity to test a few Rodan + Fields products, and I’m really enjoying them. My favorite (daily use) products so far are part of the Redefine line, which are targeted at aging skin. I really appreciate the emphasis on using SPF, and that the package includes an eye cream focused on fighting wrinkles, which sadly, I have. I’ll do a full product review when I’ve finished sampling all the lines. For reference, my skin is combination-dry, and does breakout on occasion. I have a lot of freckles, which make my skin look discolored the older I get (I swear the little bastards are joining together to become one giant freckle!) I love exfoliating products, and brightening products, or anything that helps fight wrinkles. I have deep set eyes, and in the last 2 years I’ve developed fine lines around the inner corners of my eyes, so I’m always on the hunt for a good eye cream. A special thank you to Paula for allowing me to try all of these products out and give my honest feedback and recommendations to all of you. My opinions are my own, as always.

Happy Thursday! Happy because there’s only 1 more day until the weekend, but also because I have one of my favorite companies to share with you guys today, as well as a coupon code.

You’ve all heard me talk about Vonbon before, but my love affair with this company is so strong that they deserved their own post!

I’ve searched for scarves for my tiny lady since she was old enough to wear them, and could never find anything that was modern, well made, and in her size. Tired of giving their expecting friends the traditional baby gifts, they began creating goods in neutral and sophisticated patterns that were easily transitioned from outfit to outfit, as well as being gender neutral. Are you in love yet?

The first thing most moms want to know is “How do they wash?’, and the answer is GREAT! See that red frosted cupcake? Y’all know it t went all over her scarf, but you’d never even know now. A gentle cycle later, and it was good as new. The products are so well made, and I really appreciate that the children’s infinity cowls come in a generous size, so I don’t have to worry about Camryn outgrowing them anytime soon. I can actually wrap them around her neck 3x’s if it’s extra cold outside and I want her neck to stay warm and have the ability to zip her jacket all the way up. The neutral patterns make mixing and matching headbands and infinity cowls so easy, but doesn’t give off that “matchy matchy” look. I know these will still be favorites of mine when we decide to have baby #2, and they’ll look just as adorable on a boy or girl.
